2021 Dragon Challenge
We are united by one idea: young people have the creativity, energy, and drive to change the world.
Our 61 Dragon Fellows ran 28 community service projects that changed their corners of the world, with grants from the Dragon Kim Foundation totaling over $140,000. Today, our three top teams will present to a panel of corporate leaders for a chance at an additional $5,000 to continue their good work.

Our project aims to protect the beautiful beaches and natural ecosystems along the California coastline, by encouraging environmental awareness in our community. We connected with other passionate community members to create an interactive mural and spread the message to “Protect what you love”. Our mural features plants and animals native to Pacifica and encourages others to get involved with the problem.

Let’s Learn About Public Health!
Melody Chang
Orange County School of the Arts
The goal of my project is to educate elementary school students in grades 3 to 6 about public health. I aim to teach them to look out for warning signs/symptoms, practice healthy life habits, and spread awareness to their family & friends, which promotes prevention and early detection. Prevention and early detection is key to improving the health status of our communities and reducing healthcare costs, especially during this pandemic.

Club Moai’s mission is to help teenagers with disabilities make friends, feel like a part of a community, and have fun. We run monthly social groups and summer camps designed to integrate teenagers with special needs into our community by participating in fun activities and meeting and socializing with their high school-aged peers. By spending hands-on time volunteering at Club Moai through service learning, our high school volunteers learn to use compassion and kindness when interact with their peers with disabilities.
